Day Two of the Training: Bielefeld’s Innovation Ecosystem – From Idea to Implementation

On the second day of the training within the Erasmus+ RELIABLE project, participants had the opportunity to explore practical examples of the development of Bielefeld’s innovation ecosystem.

The programme included a visit to the Innovation Office, a space originally developed as part of the Open Innovation City project and now serving as a venue for workshops, networking, seminars, meetups, and the co-creation of innovative solutions. Particular emphasis was placed on connecting local government, academia, business, and civil society, as well as on applying the concept of open innovation to urban development. Participants were also introduced to the KickBox concept, a methodology that enables the structured development of innovative ideas – from the initial idea and problem identification to testing and further development of solutions. The programme also included an “Ideation and Validation Workshop”, led by Yulia Parkhomenko, researcher at FHM Bielefeld. The workshop focused on the process of generating, developing, and validating ideas, with an emphasis on transforming them into concrete and applicable solutions. The second part of the visit was dedicated to Wissenswerkstadt Bielefeld, a modern space for knowledge, creativity, and innovation, where participants learned about different approaches to bringing science and new technologies closer to citizens through interactive activities, workshops, and various learning formats. The second day of the training brought together AI, innovation, education, and the development of the local innovation ecosystem, providing concrete examples of how collaboration between academia, the public sector, businesses, and citizens can support the development, testing, and improvement of new ideas.
